A walk around my local temple and market

Hi, thanks for stopping by. in this post I just wanted to share my photos from a walk around my local temple here in Bangkok, along with my thoughts on some of my favourite shots from the walk. Let's dive in.

Okay, so as I mentioned, this post is all about my local temple as well as the market that is located just outside of the temple. It was a quick walk around, maybe only one and a half hours but I was pleasantly surprised with the temple and also the shots I managed to take.

I had never been to this temple and knew had a spare hour or so on Sunday morning so I grabbed my camera bag and off I went. The first thing that shocked me was how busy the market was on the approach to the temple. I didn't know about the market so that was a surprise and a bonus because lets face it, who doesn't love a good market for street photography. The next thing that shocked me was the size of the temple.

It is a massive site that has a multitude of different temples, nothing huge like some of the Thai temples here in Bangkok but no less beautiful. In fact I was totally blown away at the beauty and intricacy of some the temples here. The name of the temple is Wat Wachiratham Sathit Worawihan.

Obviously, all the gold plated loveliness and intricate tile work is nothing without good light to show it off and I really did get lucky here. Awesome morning light casting great directional light across the whole temple complex, perfect! Also, this beautiful morning light was ideal for photographing the market too. Letting that morning glow dance across the people and stalls allowing the darkness of shadow play against the lighter parts of the scene.

So enough waffle, let's take a look at some images! Head over to my IG page for more regular posts and to see what I get up to when shooting etc... @tographyfeelz

Okay, now I wanted to take a look at my favourite shots from the walk. This one below was shot at 28mm, the widest my lens will go. It works fine and I really like the shot, temple framed by the beautiful mirrored arch way, however, I would have loved to have a wider lens, possible 20mm or wider to really exaggerate the arch way and temple. All in all, I do really like this shot though.

Next up is this shot. It doesn't really look that Thai to me for some reason but I think that's why I love this shot. the architecture is so interesting and has so much detail and the framing worked out really well with the temple roof framing the stupas perfectly. Again if I was to be super fussy, I would have liked a wider lens to really make the most of the scene.

Finally we have this shot. My favourite from the day. Beautiful morning glow behind the stupa, with a lovely soft blue sky at the edges of the frame. I love the near perfect symmetry of this frame. Overall I don't think I could improve on this shot actually. Maybe a nice sunrise colourful sky or sunset even? That may look nice but I always love the golden temples against that lovely blue Bangkok sky.

That wraps this post up guys. thank you so much for taking the time to stop by and read this. Next post will take a look at a specific photo mission I made to the amazing Loha Prasat. A stunning temple here in Bangkok and last of its kind. Some nice shots to share with you and talk about in that blog.

all shots taken by me, on Sony A7C and Tampon 28-75 F2.8.
